PG-2 — A Better PG-200

The PG-2 is a high-quality alternative to the Roland PG-200 for the Roland JX-3P and Roland MKS-30, designed to give you fast, hands-on control without the limitations of vintage hardware.

Unlike the original PG-200, the PG-2 allows you to translate MIDI CC messages into PG-200 data. This means full parameter control over MIDI—making it possible to automate and control your synth in ways the original controller never could.

The PG-2 also includes a powerful built-in patch generator with the following categories:

• Bass
• Bells
• Strings
• Synth
• Pad
• Randomize

This is not a simple randomizer. The patch generator uses intelligent, rule-based algorithms to create musically useful sounds every time. It’s like having an infinite patch bank built directly into the controller—something no other PG-200-style controller offers.

Build quality is a major focus. The PG-2 features:

• Powder-coated metal enclosure
• High-quality faders with smooth, solid feel

It’s more affordable than higher-end units because it doesn’t support KIWI modifications (which require significantly more controls) and avoids added complexity—but the build quality is exactly the same as every other Retroaktiv controller.

Additional details:

• Powered directly from the synth (no external power supply required)
• MIDI port is for CC input and firmware updates only
• Note data must be sent directly to the synth’s MIDI input
